With roots buried deeply in Appalachia and influences spanning much of Europe and Africa, bluegrass music is more than a musical genre. It acts as a common language of sharp guitar melodies and banjo runs that have bridged cultural and generational gaps for more than a century. Today, many of the most talented Bluegrass musicians and passionate admirers play and live throughout Brooklyn, New York. This Meetup is to serve as a public forum for sharing and planning events related to bluegrass musi …

We currently try to meet once a month and encourage everyone to lead a song or tune. All levels welcome, but stringed instruments only, please. No drums, flutes, etc.

This group was started to provide a place for acoustic instrument musicians of all playing levels to meet, jam, collaborate and have fun playing with others. The hope is to have a convenient location and time for regular biweekly jams. Another goal is to find a venue to host a regular open-mic.

There are amazing musicians who play mostly for tips- and I'm tired of seeing their work go unappreciated. I know that there is an audience who loves all kinds of roots based music- and would welcome the opportunity to be part of a community that connects with artists on a personal level. This group is such an opportunity.
Meetup details are available only to members.
Loose group, mostly boomers and those who like playing primarily woodstock type music, plus blues, and whatever inspires us. Nothing formal goin' on here. Think: Joe Cocker, Allman Brothers, Stones, Clapton, BB King, plus some ol garage band favorites including Van Morrison's Gloria. This is primarily rock/rock-blues. It's loud, on purpose. I'm sure there are good folk, jazz, bluegrass, and country jams around. This isn't one. Booze and etc. are not invited. BYO bev. We chip about $15 each t …

This group was started to help create a single place to find House Concerts in the Philly area. Initially I'll post concerts onto the calendar as Notes (with a link to more information about the event), and if the House Concert host desires, you'll be able to RSVP right here from Meetup. My theory is that there are lots of people on Meetup who are looking for unique experiences, and I'd love to connect you all to the House Concert experience. What is a House Concert? A house concert is an even …

The purpose of this group is to unite fans of live music in Stamford and the surrounding towns. Events will include local shows from New Haven to New York (of course, the more local the better!). Favorite venues currently are Acoustic Cafe and Gathering of the Vibes. Open to all genres but with a preference for original indie rock, blues, roots, folk, funk, bluegrass, and anything in between. This is a no-attitude, accepting group- I don't claim to be on the cutting edge of music, just love s …
